Acting Techniques in the 20th Century

The book Acting Techniques in the 20th Century has been published twice in Slovakia – this is the book’s thirdedition, amended and published for the first time in English. In thebook, Mistrík summarizes the knowledge of various acting techniquesand theories that were used in twentieth-century theatre. In clearlyarranged chapters, owing to an engaging text, which is enriched by alarge selection of historical photographs, readers can get behind thescenes of the theatre and extend their understanding of the aestheticand social contexts of theatre art. This is not an acting textbook, nordoes it aspire to present a systematic history of acting – it is mainlyfocused on the most important personalities and theatres, leaving itat the readers‘ discretion whether they want to look for inspiration fortheir artistic growth and theatrical work.
